Poison, buffers and withholding periods

InformationDraft

Farmland from the air

Why some land can be harvested and some can only be controlled, and how the app works out where a hunter may go.

A landholder’s poison history is captured when they list their property. From it the system applies the withholding period and the exclusion zone that the toxin and the animal call for. Every toxin and every animal is different.

Animals can only be harvested for processing from land that is clear. Where land is inside a withholding period, or too close to where poison has been laid, it can still be hunted for control, but nothing from it is supplied.

Neighbours

The rules are distances from boundaries. A boundary shared with a property whose poison history is unknown takes ground out of the huntable area. When the neighbour lists too, that ground comes back.

What the hunter sees

The huntable area on the map in the app. It is drawn from the landholder’s real boundaries and declarations, so there is nothing to work out in the field.
